Being Under 8 is just great
(Story written by Mrs Judi Chatwood,
Media Liaison Officer)
Blackbutt State School students from Prep to Year 2 joined with the kindy kids from C&K recently for a morning of fun and friendship.
School students, younger siblings, parents and carers joined in a morning of fun and creativity with their counterparts at the local kindy.
Our Prep to Year 2 students enjoyed some special activities that were designed to embrace the joy and fun of being young.
Prep teacher Mrs Rhelle McLean coordinated the event with the help of Ms Wright (year 1 teacher) and Ms Mahoney (Year 2 teacher).
Mrs Rhelle McLean said Under 8s Day was always a special occasion for young students and everyone got into the spirit of the morning.
“There were lots to fun activities to take part in, from bookmark craft and biscuit decorating to playdough and pasta necklace stations,” Mrs McLean said.
Year 1 teacher Miss Shannon Wright said there were long queues for the face painting and crazy hair stations which were a clear favourite with the littlies.
“Everyone wanted their faces painted or their hair coloured,” Miss Wright said.
Those students who liked a bit of action were kept busy with a visit from the local police and ambulance. And the big red fire truck, lights flashing and siren blasting, also made a guest appearance with our local firies.
Year 6 teacher Mr Lewis Bishton kept the kids busy with parachutes, obstacle courses and wooden spoon races.
There was also bubble blowing, colouring in, a puzzle table and sidewalk chalk drawing. All-in-all, a fun day filled with exciting things to do.
