Everything's Coming Up Daisies at Blackbutt State School

Year 1 student Tyson McDonnell helps Mr Tony White plant daisies in the school garden.
Everything’s coming up daisies
Our school gardens at Blackbutt State School are at their peak.
Groundsmen Mr Tony White and Mr Ross Jenner have been hard at work keeping the school grounds pristine.
Despite the recent hot spell, Blackbutt State School’s gardens are in full bloom with many of the native plant varieties thriving in the hot, dry conditions.
The new native plant garden near the Year 1 classroom is enjoying the dry weather, with plants expected to peak soon
They are growing well in their new home with its timber and corrugated iron retaining walls.
Mr White has been busy planting a daisy garden around the seating near the central play area. With some special help from Year 1 student Tyson McDonnell, Mr White has created a triangular flowerbed resplendent with colourful daisies.
Tyson has volunteered his playtime learning the gentle art of gardening under Mr White’s guidance, digging and mulching the soil, planting the cuttings and watering the new garden beds.
What does Tyson like best about gardening? “I like digging in the soil, watering the little plants with the watering can and watching the plants grow. It’s fun helping Mr White in the garden.”
