 Special Parade Celebrates Student Achievements

Blackbutt State School students celebrated a successful end to term three this week with a special parade to mark their achievements.

The hour-long parade was watched by the whole school community – students, staff, parents and carers.

Principal Mrs Gayle Williamson announced the 2018 school attendance target of 93%, with total school attendance for last week sitting at 90.2%.

“The top attending class was Prep with 93.5%,” Mrs Williamson said. “Close behind was Year 3 with 93.3%. This was a great effort by staff and students.”

Class teachers then presented Platinum Behaviour Certificates to those students who consistently followed school rules, showed exceptional behavior inside and outside the classroom, were responsible for their own behavior and learning, demonstrated a great work ethic, showed respect for themselves and others, and were good friends and classmates.

Students who achieved Gold Behaviour Certificates were asked to stand in front of the parade and received resounding applause from the audience.

The Scripture Union Queensland Chaplaincy program was the lucky recipient of a cheque for $315.20 from our students’ Buzz Button donations.

The highest Buzz Button donors, Penelope and Gemmason, presented the cheque to our school chaplain Wendy Chapman.

Penelope and Gemmason donated 242 and 179 Buzz Buttons respectively, with a total of 3619 Buzz Buttons donated by students this term.

Drought Angels were the recipients of a $479 cheque raised from a recent free dress day to help our struggling farmers. The money raised by our students was matched by a donation from our fabulous P&C

Our dodgeball champions from lunch time sport, the Stingrays, scooped the pool and were presented with their medals for being the overall competition winners.

The Stingrays included Warren, Penelope, Codi, Stephanie, Alissa, Adisyn and Knate. Congratulations team!
