125th Celebration held Thursday 19 August 2021

Program of Events

8.45

Students, staff and parents/carers come to school in clothes that they may have worn to school in 1896.  Children participate in classroom experiences that replicate what it might have been like in 1896 or work on activities to find out what it was like to be at school in 1896.

Each class sets up a game/stall for the expo for visitors to try

Every child is given a slate with Blackbutt SS sticker on it to take home as a memento

10.45Play time Children can choose to play old fashioned games such as hopscotch, skipping, chasey, chess, marbles, hoops etc.

Children return to their classrooms and eat lunch

Time capsule Event

All classes gather in the hall to look at the time capsule items

Our Choir will sing a few songs led by Mr Matthew Wild.  Our guest speaker Mr Gilliland will e talking about his school experences when he went to school at Blackbutt SS in the 1940's.

This will be followed by our Time Capsule event.  The school's time capsule will be opened in 2046. Ms Wright will be leading this part of the session.

12.30Our Learning Expo starts
Visitors are welcomed into the school by our student leaders and Playground Pals

Visitors visit classrooms and are shown the wonderful learning taking place in every area of the school

P&C will be selling high tea at the tuckshop.

Play time- Children can choose to play old fashioned games such as hopscotch, skipping, chasey, chess, marbles, hoops etc

Visitors are welcome to stay with the children at playtime and eating time

1.45Eating time Visitors are welcome to eat with their children
2.00-3.00

All students go to the big oval.

All students, staff and parents make the number 125 – photo taken by drone.

After they do this, children participate in traditional games rotations such as

Ball games/ tug a war/ egg and spoon/ duck duck goose/ sack races/ three legged races/ wheelbarrows/fish/etc.

P&C will sell 125th merchandise on the day and afterwards-commemorative yoyos, magnets, and keyrings
