School community and volunteering
You can get involved at your child's school—it will help you keep up-to-date with what is going on at the school, and help build positive relationships between you and the school community.
Volunteering at school
Volunteers are always welcome to help with:
tuckshop
excursions
reading support in the classroom
sport—coaching, umpiring or helping out at carnivals
parent associations
fetes and other school events
Contact the school for further information or to register your interest.
Blue card
The blue card is a system for monitoring a person's suitability for working with children. Volunteers at schools must hold a blue card before starting, unless they are parents of a child at the school.
Parents & Citizens associations
All schools rely on their community to help with decision making in areas like uniforms and behaviour, and to help with funding and supporting school organisations.
Blackbutt State School has an active P & C Association. Phone the school and become involved.
Keep up to date.
Read your school newsletters, and check your school website for local news and events.
